On September 12, 2025, we experienced an important milestone at Hotel Lomas Casas: the signing of our adhesion to the Productive Protected Landscapes Program (PPP).

The PPP is an initiative created by Fundación ProYungas in Argentina and implemented in Paraguay by the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS). Since El Retiro already operates under sustainable production practices, our adhesion to the program is a natural continuation of that path, turning our commitment into something verifiable and recognised. Through the PPP, we will obtain a certification that reinforces the value of our sustainable practices and adds differentiation to our products in increasingly competitive markets.

The agreement was signed by our President, Dr. Martin Vorderwülbecke, representing El Retiro S.A., and María del Carmen Fleytas, Country Director of WCS Paraguay, representing the implementing organization of the program. This signature reflects the collaboration between the productive sector and one of the most relevant conservation institutions in the region.

The event was also attended by Ramiro Vargas Peña, President of ICCF Paraguay and the Eng. Nelson Enrique Molas, coordinator of the FOLUR Paraguay project at ICCF, a global initiative that seeks to transform food systems and promote land restoration. We were further honored by the presence of Dr. Darío and Dr. Silfrido Baumgarten, well known in Paraguay’s livestock sector through their work with Genética 4x4, and also recognized in the academic and environmental fields, who contribute their expertise and experience to advancing sustainable development in the country.

This adhesion was carried out within the Implementation Agreement between ICCF Paraguay, WCS Paraguay, and the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development (MADES), under the framework of the “Food Systems, Land Use and Restoration” (FOLUR Paraguay) project, executed by ICCF Paraguay and led by MADES. The project provided the institutional and financial framework for this milestone, ensuring that the PPP certification process is aligned with national priorities and supported by an international initiative.

With this step, El Retiro reaffirms our commitment to sustainable development, ensuring that our reforestation and production projects continue to generate value for both our company and the landscapes in which we operate.
